How do I reboot my linux dedicated server?

You can reboot your linux dedicated server at any time by using SSH or your control panel.

Rebooting your server with SSH


  1. Log in to your server with root

  2. Execute the following command:

    shutdown -r now


Rebooting your server with WHM/cPanel


  1. Log in to WHM as root

  2. Under System Reboot choose Graceful System Reboot


The server will take time to reboot. Where as a normal server reboot takes about 2-3 minutes, please give the server up to 10 minutes to reboot. If the server is not booting and you have waited 10 minutes then contact our support team and we will troubleshoot the issue.
